… Sitting or standing around just waiting. Waiting for people to turn up, waiting for things to reboot, waiting for a delivery, waiting for a phone call
Friday was a prime example of having to wait! My day started at 9am. I had an installation to complete. It takes 2 hours to install and do the training for it. Also the customer is about 20 minutes away from the office
So. Lunchtime comes and goes, and the salesperson still hasn’t told me that the delivery has arrived, so I’m still sat in the office, not really intending to find anything constructive to do.
By the time it is 2pm, I try ringing the salesman, but it is turned off. The manager is on holiday, so obviously he’s taking an extended lunch.
2.30 comes along and he saunters back in the office. I say I can’t do the installation, and that a same day install isn’t normal, and he will have to call head office to get the other installer to do the job as I’m fully booked next week!
He says, can’t you just do it. I explain that we finish work at 4pm and I’m not working overtime!!!
I assume that the customer has been trying for some time to get through to him, but with the phone off, they couldn’t get through.
It’s pathetic and annoying that the laziness of a salesman causes me to waste a day in front of a computer just doing things I don’t really need to do.
That’s enough for now, I just hate waiting around, especially for lazy people!!
