Media Whore…

Jul 17th

Someone tweeted that word to me last week, and I’ve been meaning to blog about it. So, yeah, here is the open an honest media whoring that I did last week.

Tuesday I was driving down to Ipswich at some ungodly hour, and listening to Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music. 6.45am came and Rock Book Files feature was on, and however amusing it was, they offered it to the general public, to take part. I mean, the public gets to speak to THE HAWK. I sent a text and thought nothing more of it.

2pm came (I had finished work at this point), and got a phone call, and I’m going to be on the radio at 6.45am the next morning. Thankfully, not many people are up at that time of the morning, so are unable to listen to me make an arse of myself. Anyway, that was media whoring number 1.

Number 2. Most people in the UK should have been aware of the Raoul Moat media debacle on the friday night. Interesting that on the Saturday night, the conversation topic on BBC Radio 5 Live was whether the media were right in being there, and, as some people called it, being intrusive. I ended up getting frustrated with the anti media views (I am a media whore after all), and called up. They called back, and I was straight on air, complimenting the UK Media. Now, I was more sober than when Gazza appeared on Five Live, but probably not by much. Hmmmm..

Then, Sunday Morning, I wake up to this tweet

Paul aka Twitchhiker had written an article that ended up on the front page, 2, 3 and 4 of the Mail on Sunday magazine supplement.

My week of media whoring was complete, I had been on the radio twice, appeared in a newspaper, and one of the photos that I had taken of Paul while in NYC back in March 2009, ended up on the front cover too!

Here is a link to the full Mail On Sunday article which also appeared on their website. Photo of Me included

Makes me kinda happy to be such a media whore.
