Hello New Year

Jan 2nd

So, the new year is here, and I was bored shitless. The reason I was bored shitless is that there is only so much TV one can watch, and also, I’m really not used to being in one place for such a long length of time. My job takes me out and about a lot of the time, and if I’m in the office for more than 2 days straight, I start to get antsy. Now, think about the fact that I’ve been at home since the afternoon of the 24th, with only very brief outings to go to the supermarket.

On the 30th I did have some work, so did the required updates to the model agency website that I design/keep up to date, and, when unable to sleep overnight, I had an idea to redesign this blog. The result is what you see in front of you.

Now, if you’ve got this far, you’ve clicked on either a link from twitter, which took you directly to the blog post, or you browsed through from the front page. I’ll explain my thoughts around the front page, and to get to that just click on my name at the top.

Two featured posts, which are reasonably important now dominate the main page, giving you a lot more of blog post, until the more jump. To the right, you have the solitary last tweet, and below that four recent blog posts. These are normally shorter snappier ones, so an excerpt and the hope you click to read is just there as a taster.

This is a much better organisation of space. Finally, after nearly 18 months of having this blog, the categories and archives links work correctly, as I’ve actually spent time on creating them.

Below the main section, you have the about me section, which is re written for 2011, and then the tag cloud. Finally the obligitory calendar sits at the bottom right corner, it just fills in the whitespace.

Looking for the menu / photo gallery / links? they’re now in the footer? No one really uses them do they?

Other changes: Gone from the front page are individual tags and categories, but they are there for people to see in the single / archive / category pages. I’ve tried to keep things tidy.

Hopefully I’ll keep this blog up to date more, take more reasonable photos, comment on films / music / life in general, especially as I start  new job on the 10th January, so I’m sure the Rants and Work categories will get their use.

Comments on the new design are always welcome, just leave a reply below!

Happy New Year!!!
