New York

If you actually knew me, (yeah, I know some of you do), you wouldn’t need to ask where I like to spend my holidays/vacations. The simple answer is New York City. I have someone to blame for my, what is now an addiction to the city, but I really can’t complain about it. I love the city.

Back in March 2011, I flew out to NYC and had a brief 1 day in the city, before heading to visit San Francisco. I got out of the airport, on the AirTrain, down into Jamaica subway, and it wasn’t until I had sat on the subway for about 10 mins, just watching the world go by, that I thought, “Hang on, I’m in NEW YORK”.

The whole experience of getting into NYC, and visiting places is second nature now, so much so, I aim to get into the city twice a year. I’ve considered other cities, I’ve considered other holiday types, but nothing gets me as excited and interested as planning my own NYC break.

I’ve been helping out on internet forums for quite a while now, hoping to give my wisdom to other potential travellers to NYC, and writing some guides etc, I’ve finally had the nerve to create a section on my own website. Luckily, on each forum, social network etc, I try use the same name, so I know people will find these guides. I even tried creating a site with multiple maps on, not to much luck, but it was difficult to manage what is a growing number of websites. I’ve therefore decided to retire nyc-map and integrate it, probably to a much more better use, on here.

Ultimately, what this will give you, is information to make your trip to NYC unforgettable, and also, to enable people to share information in an informal, and unmoderated manner. Maybe I’m having delusions of grandeur here, but I think I’ve got enough tourist knowledge to help people. You can’t knock locals knowledge, but they’re not tourists. The beauty about NYC is the locals do know their food, but maybe not the hotels, or the best way to book flights from the UK to the US, how the banking system works etc, all things that eventually will be covered on these pages.

That’s enough from me right now, my fingers are crossed that people are going to enjoy the stuff I’m putting up here, and I will get around to enabling comments on the pages very soon.
